Sustainability and Preserving the Environment

Oil and Gas exploration has always had its share of negative effects on the human population and the environment. Some of the ill-effects drillings bring with it are noise pollution caused by blasting, deterioration in air quality due to vehicle and diesel emissions, impact on ecological resources including loss of wildlife habitat, reduction in plant diversity and potential for increased erosion

As a General Manager HSE- Corporate at Vedanta Ltd (Cairn Oil & Gas), I KK Nayak feel that it is my responsibility that the activities of Cairn Oil & Gas be focused on the core concept of sustainability and preserving the environment for future generations. As a result, Cairn is now prepared to address key environmental and societal concerns challenging the organization.

In Rajasthan, work is underway on setting up a solar-powered lighting system while in Ravva and Savaii, renewable energy is being immensely utilized. At the Ravva and Rajasthan terminals, I KK Nayak presented on the topic ‘Environmental Regulatory Requirements in E&P Upstream sector’ which saw tremendous participation from Oil & Gas professionals.
